Creative Direction


Teachers of English as a Second Language (TESL) Ontario


Having previously worked with the association on a video project, TESL Ontario commissioned me to deliver a new creative direction to their annual report. The result was a more balanced and upbeat tone, communicating the message of TESL Ontario: Connection, Community, Empowerement. TESL Ontario has chosen to continue working with Un Lápiz in the design and production of its annual reports. Many thanks to TESL Ontario for their trust and confidence.


TESL Ontario is the non-profit association serving the needs of teachers of English as a Second Language. With 12 affiliate chapters across the province of Ontario, it holds a yearly conference. Among the items presented during its board of directors meeting is the annual report. Its previous annual reports had been done by an external agency that was essentially recycling the same design year after year. The assocation was not, simply put, receiving good value.

The association was looking for a completely new direction. The objective for the new design was to deliver confidence and re-establish TESL Ontario as an organization delivering value for its members. The new design speaks to that by delivering a fresh new design that came in underbudget, and delivered ahead of the association's yearly board meeting.
